We continue via le Cateau (Matisse Museum) and Arras with its wonderful historic market square to the Normandy coast. To recover after two long journeys, we stay overnight in a very quiet hotel with a wellness area near Treport.
From now on, the daily stages will be significantly shorter so that you can fully enjoy the wonderful landscape with the impressive chalk cliffs. We drive along the coast and if you want, you will definitely find the opportunity for an invigorating swim in the sea at one of the beaches. Fresh seafood is plentiful in the restaurants of the idyllic coastal towns. In the evening we spend the night at the Schlosshotel Sissi surrounded by its beautiful park.
After breakfast we head to Fecamp, where we can visit the world-famous distillery in the Palais Benedictine. Past Le Havre, over the impressive suspension bridge “Pont de Normandie” we reach the Calvados region. Of course, a visit to a Calvados distillery should not be missed. Towards the evening we spend the night near the Allied landing beaches.
In the morning there is time to visit the memorials or museums from the Second World War on the beaches of Normandy, which commemorate the Allied landings on D-Day. We then drive to Avranches on the bay of Mont St. Michel and the border with Brittany.
On the rest day you have the opportunity to explore the sights of the region or the stretch of coast to St: Malo. Alternatively, you can also take a detour to Loheac in Brittany. This small town is known to few people, but it is home to one of the most interesting automobile museums in France.
From the automobile museum or Avranches we drive back to Normandy via small towns. We spend the night in a hotel with a star chef inland in the Orne region before heading back to the coast the next day.
This stage leads via Liseux with its impressive basilica to the most beautiful cliffs on the Normandy coast, to Etretat, the highlight of the trip. On the way we have enough time to relax or take a little stroll through the city before we get to the hotel with its fantastic location, high above the Bay of Etretat.
We say goodbye to the coast and slowly start our journey home towards Rouen. What would Normandy be without cider and so we visit a cider farm on the way to Rouen. We spend our last night in Normandy in a lonely chateau in the middle of the forest.
We are now leaving Normandy. On our way home we have the opportunity to visit an interesting chateau with a car museum in Compiegne before we have the last overnight stay near Reims in Champagne. Here you have the opportunity to taste champagne or visit Reims.
Our tour ends after breakfast together.
